Christian Dream Interpretation

God gave us everything, even the dreams we dream.  In Genesis, Joseph dreamed that his brothers would bow down to him.  Later, we see his dreams come true.  He was given the interpretations for the Pharaoh’s dreams, and through these interpretations was able to save Israel and give them food when the famine came.  The bible gives many instances where we can come to understand dream interpretation from Christian perspective.

The above example from Genesis is one of the first examples of Christian dream interpretation in the bible.  The final dream in the bible is the book of Revelations, where God’s revelation to John shows how the world is going to end.  We have no way of knowing the actual meaning of this dream until the end times.  However, many people have different ideas on what is going to happen when the book of Revelations comes to pass. 

Between Genesis and Revelation, there are many different dreams talked about.  The third most famous dream would be where an angel of God comes to Joseph in his dream and tells him to escape into Egypt with Jesus and Mary.  This dream saves Jesus’ life because the emperor had ordered all children less than 3 years old to be killed.  

Though our dreams may not be life or death, some of them are messages sent from God.  We should be sure that we pray about any dream translation to be sure that the decision made is the one that God wants us to make.  He will not force us to do what we do not want to do.  Instead, he will urge us from inside to make the changes that we need to make.  Any changes forced on us are not from God, and we must be careful we are sure of the source before we take action on our dreams.

According to Acts, everyone needs Christian dream interpretation at one time or another.  In the bible, in Acts 2:17, it states, in part “Your young men will see visions, and your old men will have dreams.”  Since it is widely accepted in Christian churches that we are near the end times, it only makes sense that our young men are seeing visions, and our old men are dreaming dreams.  All that is left is to interpret these visions and dreams correctly.

Throughout history, God has used dreams and our subconscious to give us messages that we are not open to when we are awake.  Using the principles of biblical dream interpretation can help us understand the messages we have received.  It can tell us what we should be doing, or what we need to change.  However, we need to be careful when we are trying to get dream interpretation from a Christian perspective.  It can be too easy to force the dream to mean what you want it to mean.  If we pray as we are working on the Christian dream interpretation, we leave ourselves open to God’s will. 

Not every dream is a message from God.  Sometimes our dreams are just a warning from our subconscious.  We may be focusing too much on the small things in our life instead of the important things.  Sometimes our dreams are just a mixed up rehash of the day’s events.  The only way to know if your dream is truly from God is to pray about it.  You should pray for direction and pray that you will be able to correctly interpret the dream so that you are better able to understand God’s will in your life.

Not all of our dreams are direct messages from God.  At times, we may suspect that God is trying to talk to us through our dreams.  We may have seen a heavenly angel who gives us a message, but if the angel is veiled, we should find other ways to make sure the message is a true message from God.  Other times, we just get a little voice inside us saying the message is true when we get the dream interpretation.  It’s something that we feel that God has been telling us, and everything feels right.

Though it can be difficult to find Christian dream interpretation for free, there are websites where you can get a general interpretation of some of the symbols in your dream.  Knowing the meaning of these symbols can help you focus on dream interpretation from a Christian perspective.  However, you do need to be conscious of the fact that some of these symbols can be interpreted many different ways.  For example, a baby can mean anything from a new beginning, to innocence to your own undeveloped psychological hang-ups.

One of the first websites that you can visit for Christian dream interpretation is at http://www.spiritcommunity.com.  They have an extensive dream interpretation dictionary, where you can find the symbols in your dream and interpret what they mean in relation to the rest of your dream.  Additionally, you can search their website for the different symbols in your dream, which makes it easier to find these symbols.  You do not have to spend a lot of time looking around.  Additionally, they have a whole paragraph explaining the possible meanings for each symbol instead of a simple one or two word meaning that may or may not be easily misinterpreted.

Another website that offers Christian dream interpretations for free is at http://www.way-of-dreams.com.  Their website has a thorough interpretation of the different symbol definitions.  Additionally, they have a checklist to be sure that the dream interpretation is in line with God’s will.  If you are unsure on whether you are interpreting the dream correctly, it is a good idea to go over the deception checklist for signs that the interpretation is correct.  If the person who receives the dream interpretation feels the interpretation is incorrect, they should continue to research possible interpretations to be sure that they find the right interpretation.
